Music & Worship

Worship is the way we respond to God whenever He reveals something about Himself.  Simply stated, worship begins and ends with God.  At Mount Zion, we believe that preaching, teaching, singing, praying and reading God’s Word opens our eyes to truths about God, causing us to respond in celebration and reverence.

A Typical Worship Service

Our worship services usually last about 60 minutes. It includes a time of welcome and highlights about what’s going on at Mount Zion.  Worship also includes music, prayer and giving as we prepare our hearts for the teaching time.  At the end of the service there is an opportunity to respond. We desire for our worship to be Christ-Centered and Spirit-Led. We have two worship times each Sunday.  Below is a brief description of each and how they are unique.

Music & Worship

WORSHIP CHOIR

Our Worship Choir is made up of volunteers who value investing their musical talents in leading others to worship God.  There are always openings in this group and we would love to have you join us in rehearsal on Wednesday nights from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. in the Choir Suite located next to the Worship Center in Building A.  There is no audition necessary to join the Worship Choir.

STUDENT CHOIR

Our Student Choir provides opportunities for 6th-12th graders to incorporate their musical talents in service not only to the congregation but also to the community through performing and sharing in various times and places throughout the year.  They also participate in a Mission Tour which takes place at the first of each summer.  The Student Choir meets on Sunday afternoons during the school year at 4:00 p.m. in the Choir Suite.

KID’S CHOIR

In our STOMP (Special Time of Music and Praise) Choir children learn basic music skills and how to praise God through music.  These age graded groups go from Preschoolers through 5th grade and meet on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. during the school year.

MOUNT ZION PRAISE BAND

Our Praise Band leads in worship each Sunday along with our Worship Choir and is made up of piano, keyboard, drums, percussion, bass guitar, acoustic guitar, and electric guitars.  This is an auditioned group.

AUDIO/VISUAL MINISTRY

Our Audio/Visual Ministry provides technical support for our worship services and special events through sound, lighting, video and computer expertise.  Opportunities for service are available for those who have experience in these areas or are interested in learning more.  For information about how you can serve in the audio/visual ministry please email Evan Greer.
